Should I stay friends with my ex if I want to get him back?

My ex broke up with me a month ago, and we took a long break of not talking to each other. Tonight we’ve decided that we can be friends and start talking again. But people always say, if you want your ex boyfriend back, you should ignore him and "move on" to let him feel the pain that you are not thinking about him anymore. Should I text him/respond to his texts if I am trying to get him to miss me?

Hey :) thanks for answering my question; it really made me think! oh & meant to add he did call me today but we barely talk as much ever since it happened, so yeah that was the last time i talked to him. what do i do now? lol okay anyways moving on now, if i were in your shoes i wouldn’t ignore him COMPLETELY you know what i mean? it won’t hurt to talk back and forth just as friends and the basic stuff. but don’t go any further, know when to stop, control yourself. im sure he’s already suffering & feeling the same way, just let everything fall into place. all it takes is being friends at first then growing closer & closer then you guys are in love. do what your heart is telling you, your friends will always be there for you but doesnt mean you HAVE to do what they say. it’s not like their experiencing the same pain as you right? hope i helped hunn :)

    Angel Hair,

If you’ve already taken a break for a month, then that might’ve been the "no contact" period that you need.

I wouldn’t jump right in to seeing him all the time, but meet him once every week or two weeks just to catch up. It’s hard because you can’t get too close to him as friends because then you’ll just stay friends, but at the same time you can’t be too distant or else he won’t think you’re interested in him anymore.

You could try meeting him once this week, then again in two weeks. In the second meeting, you can give him big hints that you’re still interested in him. It’s all about body language. If you’re outside, pretend to brush a fly off his shoulder. If you’re eating, take your napkin and pretend to wipe something off his face. The right body language will let him know that you’re interested in him and he’ll ask you back out if he feels the right way.

Those kinds of actions are things that only people who really care about each other will do: it’s much better than flat out telling him that you want to be with him. Seeing him only a few times and not having too much contact also lets you avoid getting to attached to him just in case things don’t work out.

You want to show your interest, but have to protect yourself from rejection at the same time. It’s kind of a tricky situation. check this site if you want some free videos on this method:

    good luck!
